fter six years of service on the THS Board of Directors, Emily Miller is stepping down from her most recent role as Board Chair. Emily began her involvement with the organization in 2012 as she became a sponsor in our education program. In 2016, she joined us on a visit to East Africa and witnessed firsthand the impact of our work. She was most struck by the strength and perseverance of our female scholars in Kenya. Seeing the potential of these young women and the impact that education had on their lives, Emily returned to the US committed to use her skills, network, and newfound passion to further the mission of The Humanity Share. She championed our University Scholarship program by raising funds each year and growing the program from one scholarship grant in 2016 to twelve scholarships in 2021.

“Emily’s passion for our mission coupled with her analytic and financial expertise have made her an invaluable leader over the last several years. Emily quickly fell in love with our high school girls during our first trip to Kenya together. She saw the immense potential in that class and used her expertise and network to create new opportunities by building up our university scholarship program. We are excited for the new opportunities that lie ahead for Emily within The Humanity Share and deeply thank her for her leadership and wisdom throughout the years.” -Kait TenHarmsel, CEO

Emily’s steady demeanor and big-picture thinking led the organization into a new phase of development, sustainability, and partnership. Her legacy on this organization and on the lives of those impacted by her work will last for generations.

It has been my true pleasure to serve our partner communities on The Humanity Share Board of Directors over the past three years. I am thankful for the relationships we’ve built, the programs our teams developed, and am proud of the strategic vision in place as the organization moves forward." -Emily Miller

As we celebrate Emily’s meaningful and important contributions to The Humanity Share, we also look forward to the future. Look out for updates on our board and on the exciting things ahead!
